ABOUT

Jennifer Mauel is a guitarist and singer-songwriter based on the west coast of Canada. Growing up Jennifer was immersed in Celtic folk music and at the age of fifteen she developed a passion for guitar accompaniment for traditional fiddle music. This eventually led her to spend time living in Glasgow, Scotland where she learned from the best and brightest of the vibrant Scottish folk scene.

Since returning to Canada Jennifer has performed with Vancouver-based fiddler Gabriel Dubreuil and began exploring her voice as a singer-songwriter. In 2020 she released her debut single "Salish Love", which was nominated as a semi-finalist in the 2021 RootsTech Songwriting Contest. In 2022 she released the composition "Cam's Song" in memorial of Cameron LaFave, as a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Foundation.

As a singer-songwriter Jennifer combines rich instrumental arrangements with evocative lyrics, creating soundscapes that stir the soul and transport the listener. Drawing on themes of natural beauty and personal stories, her songwriting aims to capture the depth and complexity of human experiences. Her musical influences include Joni Mitchell, Sarah McLachlan, Bruce Springsteen and Jackson Browne. Jennifer weaves elements of folk, jazz, pop and contemporary music styles to create a sound that is unique and lyrically moving.
